Over the past decade the buzz word “Public/Private
Partnership” has been used by developers, municipalities and planners to create
dynamic developments otherwise impossible given fiscal, economic or development
constraints. This approach has worked internationally and, to a lesser extent,
here in the United States. Skyscrapers, open space, museums, schools,
universities, transportation projects and ports have successfully utilized this
framework – but where does Los Angeles rank? Even those deemed a
“success” by L.A. standards, fall short of the original vision and intent. Is
there a magic structure that L.A. has failed to implement? Hear from those
trying to implement the vision and guide the dialogue how a region this large
and diverse muster the required support and focus to forward these catalytic
projects through multiple agencies, departments and elected officials.
