The Downtown Los Angeles Office Boom

Friday, July 19, 2013

Over the last several years, Downtown LA has been experiencing a slow-paced economic revival with the opening of LA Live, thousands of residential units and new restaurants and nightlife hotspots. In the last few months, we have witnessed a surge in investment and development activity in the office sector, with ground-up projects like the Wilshire Grand, major rehabilitations like the PacMutual Building and The Desmond, and the sales of traditional, high-rise towers like the US Bank Tower and Wells Fargo Tower among others. What is driving the surge of activity by REITs, private equity funds and foreign investors? Are tenants flocking back to traditional office skyscrapers, or is Downtown LA becoming the next creative office submarket? Join the Westside Urban Forum to learn about these transactions and the drivers -- both economic and design -- behind this recent boom.
