The recent energy price spikes have spurred new oil & gas drilling and extraction projects in previously played-out oil fields – an energy bonanza to some, an unmitigated health disaster to others. Operations at some of these projects had wound down, but are now able to be reactivated through directional drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies that remain mysterious to most of us.
What are the new oil/gas extraction technologies? Can oil well projects thrive without significant impacts on the environment or adjacent communities? Will state and local regulation prioritize tax revenues in these challenging budgetary times? Carbon content? Locally sourced energy? Please join the Westside Urban Forum on Friday, November 15th to hear from leaders on the front lines who have direct experience with these issues to better understand what it’s all about.
