An
examination of issues relating to
global air transportation and the future
of LAX
The Westside Urban Forum will host a discussion of the main issues relating to air transportation systems and plans for the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). From Hong Kong to Denver, urban leaders are recognizing the increasing global dependence on air transportation and logistics for the movement of people and goods. The Forum recognizes this issue as of extreme importance to the future of Los Angeles, and will examine the broad issues affecting the region?s air transportation systems today and proposed solutions for tomorrow.
Consensus has yet to be achieved as to how the greater Los Angeles region will act. The need to sustain our regional economic strength through development of an enhanced air transportation system that meets the demands of the city?s 21st century economy and population is equally matched by the issues of urban land constraints and subsequent planning hurtles.
The assembled panel of speakers will review the global issues surrounding air transportation, current planning efforts for LAX developed by the civic leaders of Los Angeles and offer opinions both for and against expansion at the airport and how the region can best deal with this increasingly urgent issue as it relates to the future of LAX and other regional facilities.
Panelists include:
Mr. Michael Woo ? Discussing pertinent air traffic systems issues affecting major metropolitan areas around the globe
Hon. Cindy Miscikowski ? Discussing the facts and politics of LAX master plan alternatives A, B, C and D
Mr. Robert Rodine - Discussing support for expansion and growth of LAX.
Hon. Mike Gordon - Discussing support for limits on future growth and expansion at LAX
The panel will be moderated by:
Mr. James Watt McCormick
