Since 1995, Los Angeles has been by far the largest U.S. market without an NFL team. In recent years, several groups have worked to bring football back and have been unsuccessful. Farmers Field, slated to be located adjacent to Staples Center and LA Live, and backed by entertainment giant AEG, may be the project that finally succeeds. All we need to do is believe!
Yet there are those who say a new stadium is not in LA's best interest. Due to the dense urban setting, traffic and parking are critical issues. How will these issues be addressed? What about tailgating? Could Los Angeles pioneer a new way of celebrating football?
What new opportunities are created with the revamped convention center? What kind of impact will this have on the local neighborhoods region? Who are the winners of this stadium? Who are the losers? What's in it for the Westside?
Don't miss out on this thought provoking conversation between Ted Tanner, AIA, Executive Vice President of Real Estate Development AEG Worldwide and Frank Gilliam, Dean of UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.
