Westside Prize 2006

Fri Jun 23, 2006

The Westside Urban Forum is pleased to honor two distinguished organizations for their contributions to making Los Angeles and the Westside more livable and for promoting excellence in land use.

This year we honor developer McCormack Baron Salazar with The Westside Prize for its success in developing projects that are urban, community centered, affordable to people of diverse incomes, and designed to be pedestrian friendly and economically sustainable. The firm sets a high standard for other for-profits and non-profits with its mission to rebuild urban neighborhoods in central cities throughout the United States.

In addition, this year the Westside Urban Forum proudly presents The Westside Legacy Award to The Los Angeles Public Library for its visionary implementation of the largest library building program in the nation. Los Angeles' new public libraries were built to the highest standards of sustainability and design, and were completed with substantial community engagement - not to mention being delivered on time and on budget. The Library Program is a shining example of what a great public building program can be when compelling vision meets focused leadership and creativity.

Please join us at our annual signature event to celebrate these wonderful organizations along with this year's leading developments, designs and policies!
